Reverend Joseph Lowery speaks out in opposition to Proposed Federal Court Appointments

Written By: Admin - Dec• 08•13

On December 6, 2013, the Fulton County Daily Report published an article about letters that Advocacy For Action sent to the Georgia Congressional delegation asking them to facilitate a meeting with President Obama for the leaders of the African American bar associations to express their displeasure with the proprosed slate of candidates for the Northern District and 11th Circuit courts.  In that article, Reverend Joseph Lowery indicated that he had spoken to Attorney General Eric Holder and Valerie Jarrett about his concern over the lack of diversity with the slate and problems with some of the nominees.  Reverend Lowery also noted that U.S. Rep. John Lewis (D) told him he may testify at the Senate confirmation hearings in opposition to the slate.  To read the entire article, click the attached link.  Daily Report Article – Group Wants Obama to Delay Filling Judgeships
