Civil Rights Groups Join in Protest Against Proposed Federal Judicial Lifetime Appointees

On Friay, October 18, 2013, several groups held a protest on the steps of the Richard Russell Federal Building decrying the proposed nominees to the federal bench.  The group indicated that one nominee refused to vote for removing the confederate symbol from the Georgia flag when he was a state legislator and another nominee has litigated in favor of voter ID laws. The groups, including the Coalition of the Peoples Agenda and the NAACP, also indicated that community input and transparency into the selection process for the proposed nominees was non-existent.  To read the entire article, click on the attached link.
